Currently, if I were to tattoo the name of a group in Gothic letters on my hairless chest, I believe that my choice would be the unspeakable aPAtT While I listened to a bunch of great records lately, none have me excited as much as "Black & White Mass" , last date of publication in this unlikely group of Liverpool. It must be said that under the proposed formula by the group itself, aPAtT is just a compilation of the highlights of many of my favorite bands, all styles. Note, however, has. PATT not carrying out the fusion of genres, preferring the juxtaposition frenetic zapping furious.
An English chronicler wrote elsewhere about their debut album these words that sum up well the spirit of the album:
"My CD player shows 66 tracks, the album cover name only 8, but I've heard at least 103 (unless it be of a single long room?) "
What else to say about this sick band that could convince you to go find their music? Let's try some bulk
arguments:
- They have held scenes homemade (sometimes including pyramidal hats), devoid of sleeve, to more elegant.
- They are between 6 and 10, all multi-instrumentalists, with enough funny nicknames borrowed from the lexicon of studios (Norma Lize, The Count In, Master Fader, General Midi, etc ...)
- their music is filled with accordion, electric guitars, cello and various samples. Frequent use of "pitchshifting" (alteration of height of digital means).
- They come from Liverpool (at the same time, it does not include).
- They released a free downloadable EP , on the principle of mash-ups, with a super-wallet away a classic '80s (which I will not name for teaser serious as it is true that aPAtT not catch flies with vinegar)
- They produce refined visuals such as
- their name is pronounced "ape hat", while connement like a monkey hat. Normal. - their songs may suggest, as appropriate, to ghosts, Mothers Of Invention, Ween, Camper Van Beethoven, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, the Soft Machine debut, the Beastie Boys, to the late Thinking Fellers Union Local 182 and even the little-known yet excellent Alec K Redfearn but also garage or psychedelic stuff a little short it is barred ... bubbling, exuberant , both grotesque and sublime ...
The band toured France in November (with the other nutters of Chops).
Meanwhile, taste me this:
Apprentice Warning (from Black & White Mass )
Firebird (from Black & White Mass )
Note also that the unique earthy "Fucking Hostile" is a free download on the band's myspace .
